Demonstrations were held throughout the Gaza Strip and West Bank to commemorate the 60th anniversary of what Palestinians refer to as Al Nakba. At least 16 Israelis were injured when a rocket struck a shopping center in the city of Ashkelon in southern Israel. The closure imposed on the West Bank since 6 May continued until 17 May.
