Intense factional violence across the Gaza Strip erupted following the killing on 13 May of a senior Fatah leader. Clashes occurred between Fatah and Hamas affiliated factions. As at 15:00 hours 15 May, 18 Palestinians were killed and more than 80 injured. Strikes amongst government workers continue in the West Bank. A closure around Jerusalem was imposed by Israeli authorities during their celebrations of 40 years of “reunification of Jerusalem”.
