John Holmes, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, today visited the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. While there, Mr. Holmes gained insight into the many difficulties that Palestinian residents in the West Bank face in obtaining vital services and job opportunities. He also assessed the impact that the restrictions on movement of people and goods, caused by numerous physical closures and strict permit regulations, have on the daily lives of civilians in the West Bank.
