The Humanitarian Monitor | Jan 2010

January?s events highlight the vulnerability of many herder and farming communities, facing poor living conditions, access restrictions and/or risk of displacement, many of whom live in closed military areas and other parts of Area C. In Gaza, an escalation of Israeli-Palestinian violence results in eight Palestinian fatalities during January. Also, as humanitarian shipments have gradually been channeled to Kerem Shalom since the imposition of the blockade, the cost of humanitarian aid deliveries has significantly increased. Measures by the GOI significantly reduce the ability of humanitarian agencies to provide assistance to the population of, or operate from, East Jerusalem.
